Ambrotype? Looks like an early image on a transparent glass plate — BUT it looks like a commercial piece. A retail tag on the back reads “Broken Engagement”
That said, I could turn up NOTHING online that references it.
Photographic plates preceded photographic film as a medium.
Photo is set in original gold colored frame that is damaged on many sides – but still charming.
