DESCRIPTION: This lovely comb is made of celluloid faux tortoiseshell and is ornately decorated with a floral gilded design with clear rhinestones.
At the turn of the 20th century, women wore their hair in distinctive puffy styles known as a Gibson Girl. The hair could be heavy and required support at the back of the head with wide hair combs.
These combs also helped to support the huge hats of the late Victorian and Edwardian period.
