1909 Kestner 8.5″ All Bisque Doll
$550
Dorothy Elizabeth was the name my grandmother gave to her favorite doll; she received it in 1909 on her 9th birthday.
Made in Germany: Kestner, circa 1909
Lot / model number: 150, #3
8.5″ tall
- one-piece bisque head
- jointed bisque arms and legs
- chubby mignonette body *cracked piece glued back on
- brown glass sleepy eyes
- original cascading blonde curled wig
- feathered painted brows
- “real” (not painted) upper curly lashes
- painted lower eyelashes
- open mouth with 4 porcelain teeth
- painted knee-high blue stockings
- black-one-strap heeled shoes

Condition is generally excellent with these exceptions: There’s a chip in Dorthy’s left hip and a piece of her back broke off & was glued back on (sloppy gluing but it’s smooth). See detailed photos. These flaws are not visible when clothed.
Value Points: original wig, “real” lashes, wearing fine antique costume. Dorothy Elizabeth comes with many pieces of Victorian era clothing — including a magnificent velvet green velvet coat & hat, straw hat and hand crochet shawl.
